Dodgers News: Miguel Rojas Provides Really Sad Update on Gavin Lux Conversation

The Dodgers were hit with a big blow yesterday when starting shortstop Gavin Lux was carted off the field with a right knee injury. The team is yet to announce the severity of the injury, but per ESPN’s Buster Olney, an industry source said the injury is “bad.”

The Dodgers clubhouse was open to the media as normal on Tuesday morning, and Miguel Rojas spoke about the Lux injury. He provided a really sad update, saying he texted Lux, but didn’t get a response.

“‘Gavin please tell me you’re okay,'” Rojas said he texted to Lux. “But I didn’t hear back.”

Obviously this injury completely shocked the clubhouse, and definitely put the team into a difficult position early in spring training.

Hopefully, the injury isn’t as bad as it seemed, but if is, Rojas will need to step up as a full-time shortstop, potentially sharing time at the position with Chris Taylor.

Rojas said that he’s prepared to take over if need be.

“It’s unfortunate what happened to Luxy,” Rojas said. “But if that means me playing shortstop, that’s what I need to do. I prepared for this opportunity. I need to be ready for it.”

We’ll continue to update you on Lux when we know more.
