Dodgers News: Mike Scioscia to Manage NL Team in Today’s MLB Futures Game

The MLB Futures Game is set for this afternoon and the Dodgers organization will be well-represented. On top of the game taking place at Dodger Stadium as part of the All-Star Game festivities, three Dodgers prospects will be playing in the game: pitcher Bobby Miller, catcher Diego Cartaya, and infielder Miguel Vargas. The cherry on top is former Dodgers catcher, and longtime Angels manager, Mike Scioscia will be managing the NL squad in the game.

Scioscia clearly hasn’t forgotten his Dodgers roots either. All three Dodgers prospects were included in the starting lineup for the Futures Game.

The former catcher spent his entire 13-year MLB career with the Dodgers and was an integral part of the 1981 and 1988 world championship teams. He earned back-to-back All-Star appearances in 1989 and 1990 and has remained a fan favorite to this day.

Scioscia skippered the Angels for 19-consecutive seasons before being fired after the 2018 campaign. Scioscia and the Angels won it all in 2002.

Since being fired by the Angels, Scioscia has been heavily involved in amateur baseball and managed the United States Olympic team in the 2020 Summer Games.

First pitch for the MLB Futures Game is set for 4PM PT toady and will be broadcasted on Peacock. MLB Network will replay the game on Sunday.
