Dodgers News: Mitch White Not Happy With Being Sent to Minor Leagues

Baseball has a way of being pretty unfair sometimes. Mitch White is learning that the hard way in 2022. Despite being a pretty reliable starter for the Dodgers and tossing 6 innings of 2-run ball on Tuesday night, White found himself headed back to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

But that’s the way things work out sometimes. The Dodgers needed fresh arms and White obviously wasn’t going to be available for the next couple of days. With the team headed to Colorado for the weekend, optioning him was the logical choice.

And naturally, he wasn’t all too thrilled with the decision. White spoke about it on Wednesday afternoon and expressed his displeasure, but also added that he understood what the Dodgers were doing. (quotes via OC Register)

“It sucks, obviously; I’d rather be here. But I understand and it totally makes sense in the long-term plan. …They’re not making dumb decisions. It all makes sense objectively and unfortunately, I have to be the one that does it. You get used to it. Just go with it.”

White has been pretty incredible for the Dodgers this season. Stepping in to fill out a rotation decimated by injuries early on, he has put together 10 starts. In those 10 games, he has compiled a 3.47 ERA and he’s been better as of late(save for one bad game against St Louis).

But he almost certainly will have his time back up with the Dodgers. They will need some help down the stretch, and White has proven that he can step in when needed. And he’s a great guy to have step in.

  1. Mitch surely did well so far and should be in LA. Plenty underperforming arms in pen that could use some more work down on farm.
