Dodgers News: Mookie Betts and Justin Turner Out of the Lineup Again

The Dodgers are once again going to have to get the job done against the Phillies without a few big names in the lineup. They were missing 2 in the lineup on Tuesday night when they came back after the rain delay to win, and they have another tough matchup tonight.

Kyle Gibson will go for the Phillies tonight looking to continue a VERY good season. He doesn’t generate the strikeouts quite like other members of the Philly staff, but Gibson has had a ton of success in 2021. The Dodgers will have to face him without Justin Turner and Mookie Betts.

Both Betts and Turner are dealing with their own separate injuries that have kept them out of this series. The Dodgers might even consider putting both on the injured list today if their conditions do not improve. At this point, it seems all but guaranteed for Mookie.

That’s unfortunate given Mookie’s success against Gibson in his career. In 20 at-bats, Betts has taken him deep 3 times and racked up 8 total hits. The Dodgers are probably going to need some decent offense to support David Price tonight against a very good Phillies’ lineup.

In their place, the Dodgers have Chris Taylor at the hot corner once again. Matt Beaty gets a rare start in right field as well facing off against the righty Gibson. Neither guy is expected to be available off of the bench either, though that could change.

  1. What is up with all of these injuries? This has to be a record for most players injured in a single season.
