Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Passes Ronald Acuña Jr. as NL MVP Betting Favorite

Mookie Betts has officially become the betting favorite to win the National League Most Valuable Player award after an insane month of August.

Ronald Acuña Jr. has been the betting favorite since the start of the season. The young outfielder is having an amazing year while being part of one of the best teams in the MLB. Hitting at a .330 average with a .975 OPS, the 25-year-old franchise cornerstone is having a career year at the plate.

But, a player also having a career year and is heating up right now is Los Angeles Dodgers super-utility man Mookie Betts.

Mookie on the defensive end is playing up to his Gold Glove-caliber defense, but this time he is doing it in the middle infield as well. Mookie has started 69 games in right field, 41 games at second base, and even 12 games at shortstop.

While Betts himself may not be worrying about his personal accolades, fans and writers are all witnessing a possibly history-making season from the 2018 MVP.

The now super-utility man is also having a career year at the plate and just recently tied his career-high in home runs on the season at 35, a personal best he put up just last season.

While in the first couple of months, Mookie was trading batting average for power, the last three months of the season Mookie has been hitting over .300 going absolutely nuclear in the month of August currently hitting a .464 average with a 1.328 OPS.

The 30-year-old one-time MVP is looking to win his first NL MVP, and is currently on a 15-game hitting streak and has 16 multi-hit games in the month of August.

Mookie on the season is now hitting an impressive .315 with a 1.018 OPS, all while hitting 35 home runs and 93 RBIs from the Dodgers leadoff spot.

The Dodgers are currently running away with the NL West and if Mookie keeps up anything close to this kind of play for the last five weeks of the year, he will become the second player in MLB history to win the MVP award in both the American and National league, joining Frank Robinson.
