Dodgers News: Mookie Betts, Tyler Anderson Named Finalists for Gold Glove Awards

On Thursday, the MLB announced the finalists for the NL and AL Gold Glove Awards, recognizing defensive excellence during the 2022 season. Three players in each league were nominated at every position, with the winners being announced on November 1.

The Dodgers had two players named as finalists — RF Mookie Betts and SP Tyler Anderson.

Betts continued to be one of the best defenders in all of baseball this season. He had a .994 fielding percentage, 15 defensive runs saved above average and eight outfield assists.

He also had this game-ending play against the Giants in July.

As for Anderson, he was one of the best defensive pitchers in baseball this season. He also had one famous play in particular that had Dodger fans very pumped up.

Betts is up against Daulton Varsho of the Diamondbacks and Juan Soto of the Nationals/Padres. Anderson is competing against Corbin Burnes of the Brewers and Max Fried of the Braves for the award.

Betts is looking to win a Gold Glove for the sixth time in his career, while Anderson is looking to win his first. The last Dodger to win a Gold Glove was Mookie Betts in 2020.
