Dodgers News: Puig Isn’t Taking Christmas off

Christmas for most people is about getting together with family, giving gifts and awkwardly trying to formulate conversation with people you see once a year at most.

For Yasiel Puig, though, it’s about working out at least for a bit, and he appears to be working pretty hard.

ICYMI: A Very Merry Dodgers Christmas List

His Instagram post shows the various workouts he’s using to shed pounds as Andrew Friedman and the rest of the front office would like to see.

I have learned that the day-to-day is the best help to be able to succeed in life, so I’m working and giving it my best, to be better every day and to be able to help my team in the new season. Thanks God, for giving me the strength and the hope to begin a new year Amen merry Christmas

Also of note: Puig translates his initial quote from Spanish to English which might seem like some small step, but for someone looking for any positive PR he can come by, relating to the fan base by speaking their language is definitely the right thing to do.

  1. I HOPE PUIG COMES BACK IN GOOD SHAPE. IF HE DOES WATCH OUT MLB. WHEN HE CAME INTO THE LEAGUE. HE HELPED OUT THE DODGERS BIG TIME. HOW SOON PEOPLE FORGET.

  2. Puig posted this on his Facebook page.  I think that he is trying hard to become a part of the Dodger Community.  I appreciate the fact that he spends a lot of time with kids apparently trying to be a role model for success in baseball.  I certainly wish him the best for his own personal development which can only help him be a better team member.

  3. HarlanWolfe Harlan I agree. This young man has as much talent as anyone on the League. I would prefer to have traded him but with the injuries last year and the bar fight thing his value is probably close to zero.
If he can somehow get some maturity and meet his potential that would be a great Christmas gift to Dodger Nation. None of us can understand what he has been through getting out of Cuba and then being a stranger in a strange land. Plus he is very young. We will see he has as they say the “Curse” of great potential.
Perhaps a new start with Dave Roberts who is a very positive guy will help. You know DM was not happy with his lack of plate discipline and the former hitting coaches and Gonzo and many of the players on the team could not get through to him.
Sometimes a new start or reset is what people need. Plus he was able to go back home to Cuba see his brother and relatives and that would help anyone’s mental aspect. There is no place like home.
