Dodgers News: Reported Asking Price For Juan Soto is Massive

Tired of hearing about Juan Soto yet? Well, get used to it, because he’s going to be all anyone can talk about for the next week. With the trade deadline less than 7 full days away, Dodgers fans are really going to hear a lot about the superstar outfielder.

But if they want to acquire him, the Dodgers are going to have to dig deep into their farm system. The asking price for Soto was just confirmed by The Athletic today, and it’s a heavy one. It might be enough to where Los Angeles doesn’t even consider it, but that remains to be seen.

The Nationals are apparently seeking 6 prospects in a deal for Soto. A deal could also include some big league talent with low service time. The Dodgers do have all of those things, and Brandon Gomes was right about a potential return package. It might be one of the greatest returns for a player of all time.

“Now, clubs are scrambling to see what it might take to pry Soto loose. The Nationals are seeking six prospects, “plus,” a source confirmed to The Athletic. Big-league players with minimal service time could be on the table, too.”

That would likely mean the Dodgers would have to part ways with some incredible talent at the top of their farm system. Guys like Ryan Pepiot, Bobby Miller, Miguel Vargas, Andy Pages, and Michael Busch would all be on the table if they were to enter discussions. No word yet on if the Nats would want Diego Cartaya since they just traded for Keibert Ruiz last summer.

Any combination of those guys with a few lower-level prospects would be insane. It would also put the Dodgers in a position where they would have to eventually restock the farm system. They’ve shown a willingness to move young players before, but is this time too much?

  1. In addition to the players listed why not throw in Mookie, Freddie and Trea to seal the deal for sure?

Cmon, guys, let’s get some sanity into this matter.

What if this offer potential came up a few years ago and names like Smith, Buehler, Urias, Gonsolin, and May were sent away for a Soto type? Maybe we’d be 11.5 games behind San Diego instead of ahead at this point in the season

It is not like Soto is crushing the ball this year unless one considers the new norm a batting avg of .250 worth 6 potential big league starters/stars

Would not a DHer like Martinez from the Red Sox be a nice pick up? And how about a reliable reliever and call it a day with a quality DH and reliever added

    1. Are you real? Martinez isn’t going anywhere. The Red Sox are contenders and will be buyers, not sellers.
