Dodgers News: RHP Daniel Hudson Activated from IL, Corresponding Roster Moves Announced
After months of waiting and with half the season gone, the Dodgers are finally getting reliever Daniel Hudson back in the bullpen. Hudson has been sidelined all season while continuing to recover from an ACL injury. He’s now back on the active roster after being activated from the 60-day injured list. In a series of corresponding moves, RHP Nick Robertson was optioned to Triple-A and RHP Ricky Vanasco has been designated for assignment to create room on the 40-man roster.

Following a few false restarts, Hudson begin a rehab assignment early in June and tossed 8 scoreless outings with 13 strikeouts in 8.1 innings. With his return, the Dodgers get a lot deeper at the backend of the bullpen. Hudson has experience in all roles in relief, including 32 career regular season saves and one huge save of the World Series in 2019. He figures to help Evan Phillips with some 9th inning duties going forward and puts guys like Brusdar Graterol and Caleb Ferguson back in more comfortable middle innings roles.
Rookie Nick Robertson got into 6 games with the Dodgers, allowing 6 runs in 7.2 innings pitched. He made his MLB debut in Cincinnati earlier in June.
Ricky Vanasco came to LA in a trade with the Rangers on June 1 and had been mostly working with the club in Arizona before making one appearance at Double-A Tulsa earlier this week. They’ll hope to pass him through waivers and keep him in the organization.
As the Dodgers wrap up the first 81 games of the season tonight, the roster is getting healthier at the right time. Hudson returns today and Julio Urias is scheduled to come off the IL to start on Saturday in Kansas City. Bobby Miller gets the ball for LA on Friday night.
