Dodgers News: RHP Jimmie Sherfy’s Season Likely Done

The Dodgers had one move this week that sort of went unnoticed. In the flurry of moves that activated Max Scherzer and a few other plays, they also placed Jimmie Sherfy on the 60-day injured list.

Sherfy had been previously placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. It apparently got bad enough that the Dodgers had to make the move. Sherfy was claimed by LA back in early July from the Giants.

He made 4 appearances for the Dodgers and tossed a total of 4.1 innings. He was tagged with 2 earned runs and tallied 3 strikeouts before hitting the IL. Unfortunately, Dave Roberts hinted that his season might be over with the timing of the IL placement.

Concern for Dodgers’ southpaw Clayton Kershaw has to be setting in at this point. He was supposed to throw a simulated game on Sunday in Arizona, but lingering soreness prevented that. Instead, they are waiting to find out when he will be able to throw one. That takes him out of the running to make a return against the Angels on Saturday, so they need a starter for that day.

The Dodgers designated outfielder DJ Peters last week after a few disappointing stints with the big league team. They paid for that today as the Rangers claimed him off of waivers. After a few years with the organization, Peters heads out to Texas.

  1. no big loss. Remember, he was waived by the Giants and their bullpen is very suspect…
