Dodgers News: Rich Hill Transferred to the 60-Day IL

The Dodgers have reportedly transferred southpaw veteran Rich Hill to the 60-day IL to create a roster spot for RHP Casey Sadler who was acquired this morning from the Tampa Bay Rays.

I will be honest. This is absolutely terrible news for Rich Hill. After being placed on the IL with a flexor strain in late June, his placement entails that the earliest he can return is in late August. Even then that might be a stretch considering his age and mileage on his arm.

We all hope Rich turns this around and comes back to the playoff rotation and dominates like he always does. There is a good chance he does return considering who he is as a person: a fighter.

Hill was in the midst of a great year: 2.55 ERA, 28.1 K%, 5.5 BB%, and a great 3.16 DRA.

Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.

  1. Maybe Hill can return just before and be a part of the PS rotation, but I have a feeling he may have already pitched his last regular season game as a Dodger. Hill will be a FA after this year and Dodgers most likely do not bring him back at all.

  2. With Hill almost done for the season, now is the time to trade for Wheeler from the Mets. A short term option as he is a free agent.at the end of the year and won’t cost a lot in prospects.Watched him against the Yankees last night, throws gas and controlled all their right handed hitters. It allows Urias to stay in the bullpen where he is needed most. Kelly in the7th, Baez in the 8th ,Urias or Jansen closing the deal. We need another right hand pitcher if we’re lucky to make it to the WS again and more than likely will face the Yankees heavy hitting right handed lineup. Maeda goes to the bullpen. Wheeler will help alleviate part of the bullpen issues. Are you listening Andrew Friedman or reading these well thought out comments.
