Dodgers News: Ryan Pepiot is Open to Any Role the Rest of This Season
Ryan Pepiot returned to the major leagues on Saturday and pitched well across 5 innings. He had all the makings of starting pitcher in this league, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts even said he earned himself another opportunity after this performance.
Earlier this week, before Pepiot knew that he would be called up to pitch in Saturday’s doubleheader, he spoke to our very own Doug McKain in an interesting interview on the Dodgers Nation’s YouTube channel, which you can watch by clicking here (and I highly recommend you do).
One specific topic they discussed was in regards to his potential role for the rest of this season.
“Whatever role they want me in whether it’s bullpen, spot starter, start every five to six days, whatever it is, I’m ready to take on that role and take on that challenge,” Pepiot said. “Postseason play is exciting and it’s fun to watch, and I’d love to be a part of it.”

While the Dodgers envision Pepiot as a starter, he is willing to do anything to help this team succeed — even a role in the bullpen.
“Yeah, I’d be open to it. I’m open to whatever role. Whatever I can do to help the team, that’s what I’ll do,” Pepiot said. “I’ve pitched in the bullpen before. I pitched out of the bullpen summer ball in the Cape League, so I’ve had the experience doing it. And then the Dodgers do a great job on the player development side of having like an opener so you kind of get the feel of coming out of the bullpen. So I’ve done it plenty of times and if that’s the role that I’m given, I’m gonna take it and run with it.”

Pepiot now has even more experience coming out of the bullpen as he followed the opener Caleb Ferguson in Saturday’s game. Pepiot allowed just one run across five innings, and made it clear that he can fill that role — or any role — for the Dodgers this season.
