Dodgers News: Ryan Pepiot to Open Season on Injured List, Replaced by Michael Grove on Roster
Dodgers RHP Ryan Pepiot is going to open the season on the injured list with an oblique injury, the team announced on Thursday. Pepiot, who was slated to open the season as the No. 5 starter in the rotation, will unfortunately not be getting that opportunity now. Instead, he’s heading to the injured list, and RHP Michael Grove is taking his spot on the roster.
This is such tough news for Pepiot, who was looking forward to getting this opportunity on the Opening Day roster. But hopefully this injury doesn’t keep him out for too long, and he’s still able to make a start or two before Tony Gonsolin returns from his injury.
As for Grove, he’s now thrusted into the No. 5 starter spot. The competition between him and Pepiot was reportedly very close, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called it the most difficult decision of the spring.
So, now it’ll be Grove who gets the opportunity at the beginning of the season, as Pepiot recovers from the unfortunate oblique injury.
We’re wishing a speedy recovery to Pepiot, and hope he’s back out there soon. As for Grove, congratulations on making the Opening Day roster as the team’s No. 5 starter — go make the most of it!
