SportsNet LA To Celebrate Clayton Kershaw With Week Of Programming

With the Cy Young and MVP announcements scheduled for this week, Clayton Kershaw may soon be adding to his impressive haul of individual awards to cap off a memorable 2014 season.

Yes, the Los Angeles Dodgers fell short of reaching the World Series and Kershaw was unable to overcome the postseason hurdle that is the St. Louis Cardinals, but he nonetheless is rightfully being celebrated for the year he had.

Kershaw led the Majors with 21 wins despite missing one month, WHIP, and he became the first pitcher in MLB history to finish with the best ERA in all of baseball for a fourth straight season. Some of the shine was taken off Kershaw’s accomplishments as Madison Bumgarner led the San Francisco Giants to a third World Series win in five years.

Bumgarner’s postseason numbers has led to a debate as to which pitcher can lay claim to being the best in the game. ESPN’s Jayson Stark surveyed a panel of 16 that included executives and scouts, asking if they’d take Kershaw or Bumgarner for the next five seasons and the Dodger ace was the overwhelming favorite.

Kershaw’s list of memorable moments in 2014 include his first career no-hitter and taking the mound against the Giants at Dodger Stadium with the NL West title within reach. In the start, Kershaw struck out 11 in eight innings and not only made a wonderful behind-the-back stop, but also tied the game with an RBI triple.

Those highlights and more from Kershaw’s career will be included in SportsNet LA’s programming, with the full scheduled included below:
