Dodgers News: SportsNet LA Unveils Programming For 2014 Season
Ahead of their February 25 launch, SportsNet LA announced their programming for the upcoming season. While contract talks with cable distributors are ongoing, the channel is expected to have similar programming to that of the Lakers channel on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.
SportsNet LA will broadcast all spring training games and the voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Vin Scully, will call the inaugural game on February 26. According to DodgerInsider, here’s the type of programming Dodger fans can expect on the new channel:
SportsNet LA programming will be highlighted by the new behind-the-scenes show about the team, “Backstage: Dodgers,” the network’s signature live studio program “Access SportsNet: Dodgers,” the social media-driven “Leadoff LA” and the weekly all-access show “Dodgers Clubhouse.”
“Backstage: Dodgers” will give fans a behind-the-scenes look into the Dodger clubhouse, at home with the players and the inaugural episode is set to air on February 25. “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” will air before and after every Dodger game, which will air nightly during spring training and during the season.
John Hartung will lead the show along with insight from analysts Orel Hershiser, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Nomar Garciaparra. Sideline reporter Alanna Rizzo will conduct interviews and the show will air 30 minutes before regular season games along with after games. “Leadoff LA” will air 30 minutes prior to “Access SportsNet: Dodgers”, giving fans an interactive way to participate via social media.
Hartung and Rizzo will host the show along with commentary from the analyst team and will give live look-ins to batting practice. “Dodgers Clubhouse” is a weekly half-hour show hosted by Rizzo and will debut on Mondays. The 30-minute show will include in-depth interviews and a weekly one-on-one segment with manager Don Mattingly.
Other programs set to be on the channel are “Connected With….” which is will feature sit-down interviews with Dodger players and coaches. Roundtable conversations will take place on “Talkin’ Blue”, “Dodgermentary” will air hour-long biographies of current and former Dodgers while “Timeless Dodgers” games will air as well.
