Dodgers News: Teoscar Hernández Likes Instagram Post From Blue Jays Teammate Sparking Speculation

Could the Los Angeles Dodgers lose free-agent outfielder Teoscar Hernández to the Toronto Blue Jays?

It sure appears to be that way after Hernández liked an Instagram post from his former Blue Jays teammate, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on Wednesday afternoon.

Hernández is currently the best bat available on the free agent market and is being pursued by several teams including the Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Blue Jays, according to several Major League Baseball insiders.

Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain exclusively interviews MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports at the MLB Winter Meetings in Dallas on Wednesday afternoon asking him specifically about Hernández and the likelihood of him returning to the Dodgers.

“I think pursuits have gotten more heavy from other teams, the teams that didn’t get (Juan) Soto.” Nightengale said. “I still think he ends up with the Dodgers, maybe for a little bit more money than the Dodgers originally thought.”

That is where the Red Sox, Yankees, and Blue Jays come into play. All three teams lost the Soto sweepstakes to the New York Mets and are still searching for a big bat.

However, the recent free-agent contracts of Soto and left-handed pitcher Max Fried could make Hernández more expensive than the Dodgers were originally thinking.

“I would imagine that Teoscar Hernández would love to get that fourth year instead of making it a three-year, $65, $70 million contract — then it’s a four-year, over $80 million.”

Hernández wants to play for a contender for years to come now that he had his first taste of postseason success winning the World Series in his first season with the Dodgers.

Stability is also a factor because he isn’t looking to sign another one-year deal like he did before the 2024 season.

  1. I agree. Give Teo what he wants. He’s a very important piece to the Dodgers success. Then sign Hae Song Kim to play shortstop, Mookie at second and sorry to say, trade Gavin Lux and more to the Brewers for Devin Williams. Now we’re done.
