Dodgers News: Tim Anderson Raves About Mookie Betts After Playing Together at WBC

The incredible World Baseball Classic has officially concluded, and everyone is settling back in for the 2023 MLB season. Mookie Betts and Will Smith of the Dodgers finished their run with Team USA with a loss to Japan in the finals, and Betts was among the players to rave about the tournament as a whole.

Speaking of raving about something, White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, who’s been heavily linked to the Dodgers as a potential trade candidate, had some very kind words for Betts after playing together for the last two weeks. He said Betts helped him a ton as he transitioned to playing at second base for the first time in his career in the WBC (per NESN and MLB Network).

“I’ve been working with everybody,” Anderson said before Tuesday’s WBC championship game. “And I’ve been taking a little bit of information from Trea (Turner), I’ve been taking a little bit of information from Jeff (McNeil). And Mookie, Mookie. Mookie the goat, man. Mookie the goat. Yeah, he been giving me a lot of information. So it’s just very cool to be around a lot of different guys.”

He seemed a little extra excited talking about Mookie, as the two clearly spent some quality time together working out at second base. Betts, who’s working on his own mini transition to the infield, was able to take Anderson under his wing and help him at the new position. Clearly, they formed a nice bond over the past few weeks of the tournament.

While this means absolutely nothing for a potential trade, it should make Dodger fans excited that Betts and Anderson formed a bit of a friendship at the WBC. Maybe, at some point later in the season, the Chicago White Sox will start exploring a trade for their All-Star shortstop, and he could say he wants to play with Betts and the Dodgers. Obviously, that’s all speculation, but hey, may as well dream big. Anderson would be a perfect fit on the Dodgers, and the fact that he enjoyed playing with Mookie can only help a potential trade. At the very least, it can’t hurt it.
