Dodgers News: Trevor Bauer’s Accuser Reportedly Files Countersuit

The Dodgers have moved on from the Trevor Bauer situation, but he continues to go through his own legal battles. The former pitcher was suspended by Major League Baseball for 2 full seasons after being investigated for assault on a San Diego woman.

That was an incredibly long process that saw Bauer on administrative leave for most of the 2021 season before a ruling came down from the league. This week, the former Dodgers pitcher faces another hurdle.

The accuser in the case has filed a countersuit against Bauer, going against his initial defamation claim. Attorneys for Bauer issued the following statement in the wake of the news that a countersuit had been filed against him.

“She ‘materially misled’ the court and could not meet the lowest burden of proof in our justice system — because her claims were false. She is being sued for defamation to be held accountable for her lies and the damage it has caused. Her countersuit is a regurgitation of her judicially disproven claims and yet another attempt … to defame Mr. Bauer and seek to profit from her lies.” – Attorneys Shawn Holley and Jon Fetterolf

The reported lawsuit does not list the damages requested, but the accuser has cited er life turning into a nightmare based on the events that she said transpired since last year. Bauer is currently invovled with 2 other lawsuits against media outlets that reported his case.

As of right now, the process for Bauer’s appear to Major League Baseball is expected to be a long process. But if any part of the suspension is removed or reduced, he would presumably be eligible to return to the Dodgers. No word from the team on that part of it.
