Dodgers News: Walker Buehler’s Season is Over

Not great news out of the Dodgers today. With the team up in Milwaukee to take on the Brewers for a series, just about the worst news for their roster came down. Walker Buehler last pitched for the big league squad on June 10th before heading to the injured list.

This afternoon, the team announced that Buehler would be out for the rest of the 2022 season. The Dodgers added that Buehler would need to undergo season-ending surgery on his elbow, performed by renowned surgeon Dr Neal El Attrache. That’s a devastating blow to the roster and their playoff pitching staff.

Buehler was throwing and working his way back towards a late-September return. The team initially diagnosed him with a grade 2 right flexor tendon strain, with a return date of 10-12 weeks. That obviously changed at some point along his progression, and the Dodgers hurler is done.

The obvious hope right now is that the surgery is not Tommy John. It would be the second time that he has had it if that were the case. And with the career that many expect Buehler to have with the Dodgers, that would be a huge blow for him.

  1. Dodgers will still win the world series. We have Julio,Dustin,Gonzo and Taylor if necessary.

    1. Correction: The Dodgers will likely make it to the World Series… however the win will go to the Astros

  2. This is not second guessing because I didn’t understand at the time, but why at this stage of the season would you trade an adequate starting pitcher (White) for a couple minor leaguers? Just look at the physical condition of the pitching staff this entire year. AF couldn’t wait two more months?
