Dodgers News: Yency Almonte Activated; Phil Bickford Sent To IL

The Dodgers activated pitcher Yency Almonte who was placed on IL in the beginning of August with right elbow tightness. Almonte was expected to make a quicker recovery but all that now remains in the past as he looks to make an immediate impact for the Dodgers bullpen.

This brings welcoming news to a Dodgers clubhouse still awaiting for the return of Tony Gonsolin and Blake Treinen. If Almonte can return to his form quick, chances are he will be a key contributor in the Dodgers playoff rotation.

Prior to his injury, Almonte recored one save and recorded a 1.15 ERA over 31.1 innings pitched.

Almonte replaces the injured Phil Bickford who is suffering from right shoulder fatigue. Bickford pitched 61.0 innings for the Dodgers this season and showed some great moments over September before giving up three earned runs against the Cardinals on Friday.

Until his match against the Cardinals, in which he served up Albert Pujols’ 700th home run, Bickford had only given up one earned run over 10.2 innings pitched.
