Dodgers News: Zack Greinke Praises A.J. Ellis For His Pitch Selection

Dodgers starter Zack Greinke is in the midst of his best stretch as a Dodger pitcher and since July 8 he’s 6-1 and has a microscopic ERA of 1.41.

Greinke was dominant again tonight against a weak Marlins lineup as he tossed eight innings, allowing one run on just six hits and ran his season ERA to below three at 2.91.

However, Greinke isn’t quick to praise himself according to David Vassegh of AM 570 Radio:

Greinke is known to have one of the brightest minds in baseball and it’s evident that he trusts Ellis with his pitch selection to hitters. It’s clear that the two of them have a close relationship as Greinke reportedly told Ellis that he would trade him in an effort to make the Dodgers a better team.

Regardless, the Dodgers are seeing their investment pay off as Clayton Kershaw and Greinke form arguably the best duo in all of baseball.

Kershaw is almost a lock for the Cy Young this season and he’ll pitch tomorrow as the young Marlins will have to deal with the mastermind Ellis calling pitches yet again.
