Dodgers Notes: Chris Taylor Released, Andrew Friedman Reveals Why, All-Star Reliever to Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Los Angeles Angels, 6-4, after a comeback spearheaded by Will Smith’s three-run shot in the seventh inning fell short. The Halos swept the series, and the Dodgers fell to 29-18 in the defeat.

Ahead of the Freeway Series finale, the Dodgers announced that they had released veteran utility star Chris Taylor. With the emergence of Hyeseong Kim and the activation of Tommy Edman off the injured list, the ’emotional’ move had to be made.

Additionally, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman spoke on the decision to part ways with the veteran and revealed why that was the route he chose. He also touched on the recent decision to designate Austin Barnes for assignment, who was formerly the longest-tenured position player on the team ahead of Taylor.

Finally, in a move that many feared would be the case on Saturday night, Kirby Yates was placed on the injured list. The All-Star reliever was officially listed with a right hamstring strain as the team selected the contract of Lou Trivino in a corresponding move.
