Dodgers Notes: Exciting Kiké Hernandez Injury Update, Shohei Ohtani Insane History, Mookie Betts Returns to Right Field

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the first game of the Freeway Series against the Los Angeles Angels, 7-4, on Monday. LA fell to 68-51 on the year and is just one game up in the NL West.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, superstar Mookie Betts got his first reps in at right field this season. Betts had yet to play anywhere that isn’t shortstop this season, but offered to move to right field to keep Teoscar Hernandez’s bat on the bench — and in true superstar fashion, made the first play that came his way to get the out.

In other news, there is an exciting update on utility star Kiké Hernández. The fan-favorite was recently in danger of not returning at all in 2025, but manager Dave Roberts gave a promising update on his return timeline.

Finally, superstar Shohei Ohtani continues to impress the greater baseball world by doing something not seen since 1932. The three-time MVP currently has a 2.37 ERA across 19 innings this season, along with a National League-leading 42 home runs to further his dominance in the sport.

  1. Regarding Mookie Betts. He is a natural Right Fielder. That is his best position. The infield position brings about too much tension which has influence on his batting performance. Please Dodgers we need to win with the best player in each position

    1. You may or may not be right but have absolutely no proof to back up your “natural right fielder. Gut feelings don’t count. You have no way of knowing if his horrific year at the plate is related or not. It’s been getting better of late, so what does that prove? Nothing other than there are signs of improvement. Clutch hits are still missing. And please remember, this was HIS request to move to the infield, not the team forcing him to do it. I want the team to win as bad as anyone else, but won’t make false causations to support my narrative.

    2. I concur with HB as Mookie is a multi-time Gold Glover. Playing SS absorbs a lot of pressure besides just fielding and catching the ball. Although his fielding has improved which took a lot of work, but his throwing is erratic and his positioning on taking relays from the outfield has cost extra bases and runs. Playing SS takes years of experience to gain the knowledge and savviness (AKA Derek Jeter). The best guy would be Rojas to stabilize the infield. He is an experienced and a vocal leader which the team is lacking now. There is no one right now to take charge to shake things up and put some confidence in the guys. Have Mookie relax in RF where he is comfortable and let him be himself. BTW Mookie requested to play SS when the door was open because of Lux’s ineffectiveness and as he says to “save his legs”, but his offense has regressed even more.
