The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies,7-2, on Tuesday and improved to 81-64 on the year. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman both smashed home runs as Teoscar Hernández had two dingers of his own.
In other news, the Dodgers made a surprise roster move ahead of their eventual win against the Rockies, sending down right-hander Ben Casparius in the process. The silver lining is that one of last year’s most productive relievers returns to the bullpen after a stint on the IL.
Speaking of the bullpen, the prospect of superstar Shohei Ohtani pitching in relief this postseason has been brought up, according to manager Dave Roberts. There are different rules dealing with taking a relief pitcher in and out of the game and still having Ohtani available to hit, versus being able to start the game on the mound and still hit even after he has been replaced.
Finally, the Dodgers are predicted to add another superstar to the squad this offseason in Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker. Outfield depth and production has been a major issue this season, but the 28-year-old Tucker would perhaps improve the Dodgers offensive output for years to come.
