The Los Angeles Dodgers took Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, beating the Milwaukee Brewers, 2-1, on Monday night at American Family Field. A Blake Snell gem, a Freddie Freeman solo home run, and Mookie Betts getting walked with the bases loaded contributed to a memorable start to the Championship Series.
During the game, there was an improbable double play from the Brewers off a Max Muncy swing that sent a ball over 400 feet. Manager Dave Roberts spoke on the peculiar moment after the contest, but noted that it was the correct call.
Finally, Snell didn’t just have a third-straight dominant postseason game in a Dodgers uniform, but made history on the mound. The two-time Cy Young award winner went eight innings and punched out 10, allowing just one hit and no walks.
Snell became the first MLB pitcher since 1956 to face the minimum through eight innings in a postseason game. He became the first Dodgers pitcher to complete at least eight innings and allow one hit or fewer in a postseason game.
