The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-1, on Thursday to take a 3-0 lead in the NLCS. The defending champions are just one win away from getting back to the Fall Classic, and five wins away from becoming baseball’s first repeat champions in a quarter century.
A Shohei Ohtani triple started things off for LA as a Mookie Betts double brought him home, and an eight-strikeout performance from Tyler Glasnow kept the 97-win brewers at bay, allowing just three hits and one earned runs through 5.2 innings of work. A Tommy Edman RBI single in the sixth inning would increased the Dodgers’ lead, and a pickoff error later in the frame got Freddie Freeman home as the 3-1 lead would stick thanks to the bullpen.
Brewers superstar Jackson Chourio was forced to exit the game in the top of the seventh inning, however with an apparent right leg injury. He left Game 3 in the middle of his at-bat, appearing to sustain the injury on his swing, and after a very recent history with hamstring complications on his right side, the hope is that the injury isn’t too serious.
