Dodgers Notes: Shohei Ohtani Has Major Surgery, Joe Kelly Talks Retirement, Roki Sasaki to LA?
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that Shohei Ohtani underwent surgery for a torn labrum. Ohtani injured his shoulder while attempting to slide into second base during the World Series against the New York Yankees. Ohtani is expected to be ready for spring training, but Dodgers Nation spoke to a doctor who talked about his potential recovery.
Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly does not plan on retiring and intends to pitch in 2025. Kelly is currently a free agent. Kelly also called the Yankees one of the worst teams in the postseason.
Finally, the Dodgers are reportedly the favorites to land Nippon Professional Baseball pitcher Roki Sasaki if he gets posted this offseason according to multiple MLB insiders. Sasaki has spent his entire baseball career in Japan so far.

Joe Kelly is such a character. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, he’s just not, let us say, subdued in his feelings or thoughts. Took me a while but I warmed to him. Not sure how long is arm is going to hold up, and he’s only good, not great when he is good, but even “good” at the major league level is really pretty ******* good. Seems like he’s a little quirky, but when he can pitch he’ll give you 110%.
If I was GM, with the right performance clause, I’d offer him a contract.
