The Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Los Angeles Angels, 7-6, via a brutal walk-off chopper in the 10th inning. LA fell to 68-52 on the year and lost to the Halos for the fifth consecutive time this season (and sixth overall)
The Dodgers have officially lost their lead in the NL West, and are now tied with the San Diego Padres for first place.
In more unfortunate news, right-hander Tony Gonsolin has undergone elbow surgery and will miss 8-10 months. President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman clarified that this won’t be Gonsolin’s second Tommy John surgery, but it is a Tommy John revision with a flexor cleanup.
To round out the saddening pitching news, newly-acquired Brock Stewart has landed on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation. After allowing two earned runs in four appearances with LA, Stewart will now join a long list of bullpen pieces shelved until further notice.
