Dodgers Officially Activate Reliever Alex Vesia and Option Pinch Hitter Matt Beaty
It’s officially official! After some speculation earlier this morning, the Los Angeles Dodgers have officially recalled left-handed pitcher Alex Vesia and added him to the active roster. In a corresponding move, pinch hitter and infielder Matt Beaty was optioned to the club’s alternate site at Camelback Ranch.

Vesia is joining the club as reinforcements after Dave Roberts had to call on 6 different relievers on Friday night (and into Saturday morning). Before the game, Doc said relievers David Price (back-to-back nights) and Kenley Jansen (26 pitches) will be unavailable tonight.
Vesia will be making his Dodger debut, if he enters a game. The lefty came to LA in an offseason trade that sent Dylan Floro to the Marlins. In 7 spring training appearances, the 25-year-old recorded 10 strikeouts while surrendering 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.2 innings. He made his big league debut with Miami last season, allowing 9 earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched.
For Beaty, he continues to struggle in limited playing (but he’s struggling because of said limited playing time). He has just 1 hit with 2 walks in 13 plate appearances mostly at a pinch hitter. #FreeMattBeaty
Clayton Kershaw will be on the mound for the Dodgers and faces off against old friend Yu Darvish at 5:40 PM PT.

It figures that Dodgers are willing to go with a short bench but IIWII. Let’s hope we don’t play another extra inning game tonight.
Dodgers will pick up Joc at the trading deadline to replace Beaty. Just in time for his usual October heroics.
