Dodgers Offseason: Another Free Agent Pitcher is Off the Market
Another starting pitching is off the board, as LHP Sean Manaea has signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants. Manaea, who spent last season with the Padres, will be switching jerseys, but remaining in the Dodgers’ division.
Sean Manaea to Giants. $25M, 2 years. Opt out.

Manaea was not really on the Dodgers’ radar this offseason — and for good reason. Manaea had a down year in 2022 with San Diego, going 8-9 with a career-worst 4.96 ERA in 30 games (28 starts).
And if you think that’s bad, it’s been even worse for him in his career against the Dodgers. All time against LA, Manaea is 0-5 with an 8.90 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in eight games and six starts. It wasn’t very likely that the Dodgers’ front office would show interest in him after putting up those numbers against them.
Great news for the Dodgers that Sean Manaea is staying in the NL West. https://t.co/zh7W8iHswU

The Dodgers should be very glad to see Manaea remain in the NL West for another two seasons, as any start against him has pretty much been a guaranteed victory. If the Giants were smart, they would learn from what the Padres did in the NLDS, and keep Manaea as far away from the Dodgers’ lineup as possible. But for now, Dodger fans can salivate over the idea of a huge divisional game against the Giants with Manaea on the mound.
