The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned three players to Triple-A Oklahoma City following the Tokyo Series.
Outfielder James Outman and right-handed pitchers Landon Knack and Matt Sauer were optioned to the minor leagues.

Knack was the only of the three to appear in the Tokyo Series. The right-hander made one appearance in the second game of the series on Wednesday, pitching two shutout innings. He allowed just one hit while striking out three.
Sauer was added to the active roster ahead of Wednesday’s game. However, he didn’t end up making an appearance in the 6-3 win.
Outman was on the active roster for both games of the Tokyo Series, but didn’t make an appearance.
Now, all three players will re-open the regular season in Triple-A. The Dodgers had 14 position players on the Japan roster, so they won’t have anyone replace Outman.
As for the pitchers, the Dodgers need to add starting pitchers Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Dustin May to the 26-man roster. Now, they’ll have room for all three.
The Dodgers are set to travel back to Los Angeles, and then will play the three-game Freeway Series against the Los Angeles Angels from March 23-25.
Domestic Opening Day is then on March 27 against the Detroit Tigers.

It was only a matter of time… and the clock ran out. I hope he uses his time in Triple A to correct the flaws in his swing. That is all that is keeping him from being with the Dodgers… and swinging for the fences won’t accomplish that…
If James Outman had been given the opportunity they gave Andy Pages I believe he would have gotten the confidence boost he needed with getting some consistent playing time finally. He’s never been given the quality time in the starting position. James is a fantastic defensive player. A lot of fans were surprised when Andy made the roster and still remains while not performing. Instead this is another example of the Dodgers taking a great Rookie and bumping him up and down every time they think they have a better player. Then that player is not really better and and instead of investing the playing time that James needed to get better we are chasing the next possible fix. And really Chris Taylor is playing? I realize he’s in the last year of his contract so we want to get something for our money. He’s a great guy but enough already.
This seems like a replay of Miguel Vargas. He did not make the transition from outfielder to 2nd base well at all. Instead of investing in this really good player we bumped him back down and confidence is a tough thing to regain when lost. We got rid of him and he’s starting for the Sox and they are developing him into a player with a solid future. If we do trade James Outman I’m sure we’ll see some team really invest the time and energy with him. I’m sure we’ll see him playing in the show again. I hope so.
