Dodgers Participate In Crack Cancer Challenge Raising Awareness for Pediatric Brain Cancer

The world has seen it’s fair share of interesting online challenges over the last few years. The ice bucket challenge showed up four years ago and did a great job of promoting awareness for ALS. Now, there is a new challenge taking over social media.

The #CrackCancer challenge asks that participants crack an egg on each other’s head as a fun and interesting way to promote awareness for fighting Pediatric Brain Cancer.

May is brain cancer awareness month, and the egg cracking challenge is in support of the Willie Strong Foundation. The foundation aims to raise funds to find treatments for aggressive pediatric brain tumors, as well as treatment options and therapy.

From the Willie Strong Foundation Website:

Our immediate goal is to raise $2 million dollars to create an endowment to establish the William Seamus Hughes Professorship in Neuro-oncology and Immunology at Children’s National. It will be the first endowed chair at Children’s National to focus exclusively on these two areas, yielding lifesaving results. This Professorship will guarantee that Will’s fighting spirit lives on in the promise to other families devastated by brain tumors and ensure that every child has the very best chance for a cure.

Justin Turner chose to nominate former Dodger Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres for the challenge. He participated with Walker Buehler, Russell Martin, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Hyun-jin Ryu, Rich Hill, Alex Verdugo, Matt Beaty, and Kike Hernandez.
