Dodgers Pitcher Chooses to Leave Organization, Heads to Free Agency
The Los Angeles Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher J.P. Feyereisen for assignment on Sunday. Once he cleared waivers, the team sent him outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
However, Feyereisen rejected the outright assignment, and instead elected free agency on Tuesday
The Dodgers designated Feyereisen for assignment to make room for newly-signed reliever Chris Stratton.

Feyereisen opted to exercise his right to enter the free agent market. He has at least three years of service time and had a previous outright in July 2024, which made him eligible to elect free agency.
Feyereisen signed a minor league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks this offseason. He made two appearances with the Diamondbacks, logging a 9.00 ERA and two strikeouts in two innings.
Arizona ultimately designated Feyereisen for assignment on April 27, allowing Los Angeles to claim him off waivers on May 1.
Feyereisen has spent the majority of the 2025 season in the minor leagues. The 32-year-old has made 11 appearances, where he has allowed six runs and notched eight strikeouts across 14 innings.
The Dodgers never got to see Feyereisen in his prime, as they acquired him a few months before he underwent shoulder surgery in 2023.
The Tampa Bay Rays traded Feyereisen to the Dodgers in December 2022. By that February, Los Angeles placed Feyereisen on the 60-day injured list, and he missed the entire 2023 season.
Prior to the surgery, Feyereisen held an undefeated 4-0 record while accruing a clean 0.00 ERA through 24.1 innings in 2022 with Tampa Bay.
Feyereisen also recorded a career-high 55 appearances and 54 strikeouts in 2021, as he split his season between the Rays and Milwaukee Brewers.
However, since the surgery, Feyereisen has thrown just 13 innings in MLB with the Dodgers.
Across the two seasons, Feyereisen allowed 11 runs, 17 hits, and four home runs.
As his stint with the Dodgers comes to an end, Feyereisen is now available to explore options with other MLB teams.

He was awful. Shame that injuries derailed his career.
When they picked him back up this season it didn’t seem to make sense.
And it was a disaster again,
See ya!
