Dodgers Pitcher No Longer Has a Locker in Clubhouse One Day After Latest Poor Start
The Dodgers removed Bobby Miller’s locker from the visitors’ clubhouse at loanDepot Park, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, and optioned him to the minor leagues.
Miller started Tuesday and allowed four runs in two innings in the Dodgers’ 12-9 loss to the Miami Marlins.
Grove, who relieved Miller and was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs in 1.2 innings, was also optioned.
Joe Kelly was activated from the injured list. The right-hander’s next appearance will be his first since Aug. 30, when he was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
After the game, according to Harris, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that “we’re going to circle up and we’ll make that decision (about Miller’s future) possibly tomorrow.”
Miller is 2-4 with an 8.52 ERA in 13 starts this season. His ERA is the highest in baseball for any pitcher who’s thrown at least 42 innings.
Miller, 25, missed most of the first half with a shoulder injury. When he returned, he went 1-2 with an 8.07 ERA in seven games before being optioned back to Triple-A. Injuries effectively paved his path back to the Dodgers’ rotation.
Jack Flaherty, Landon Knack, Walker Buehler and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are the Dodgers’ other healthy starters. The team is hoping Clayton Kershaw can return in October after ruling out Tyler Glasnow for the rest of the year. The three-time Cy Young Award winner is working back from a bone spur in his left big toe.
Miller was a breakout star for the Dodgers as a rookie last season, which not only earned him a spot in the postseason rotation but as a top-five starter out of spring training. After a strong start in his 2024 debut — six shutout innings against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 29 — it’s been all downhill.
In his last 12 starts dating to April 5, Miller is 1-4 with a 9.54 ERA.
In addition to activating Kelly from the injured list, the Dodgers purchased the contract of pitcher Zach Logue from Triple-A Oklahoma City and transferred Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list, officially ending his season.
Logue, a 28-year-old left-hander, is 3-8 with a 6.88 ERA in 17 games (10 starts) in 68 major league innings from 2022-23. He signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers last week.

Logue? Why? Look at those awful numbers. I’m sure Roberts will let him lose an important game.
