The defending champions are set up to sweep the Brewers Friday, but became the first team in postseason history to allow one or no runs and four hits or fewer in four consecutive games Thursday night at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers pitching staff has been phenomenal in October, and the trend has only continued in the NLCS against the team with the best record in baseball.

Blake Snell got the Game 1 nod and set the tempo for LA. The left-hander tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just one hit and recording 10 strikeouts.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto continued the dominance with a complete game. After allowing a leadoff home run, the right-hander allowed one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts.

In Game 3 of the NLCS, Glasnow tossed 5.2 innings of one-run baseball with eight strikeouts. All three pitchers earned the win, and the Dodgers will hope Shohei Ohtani can do the same Friday night against the Brewers.

The defending champions have the chance to sweep the Brewers in Game 4, and could very well punch their ticket to the Fall Classic Friday night.

The Dodgers owe much of their success to the phenomenal starting rotation, which has certainly earned those big money contracts. The front office chose to focus on adding pitching talent last offseason, including the top free agent starter on the market: Snell.

The Dodgers have gotten all they could ask for from their two-time Cy Young winner, a Cy Young finalist, and All-Star in the NLCS. Now, LA will turn to their two-way star to secure the sweep.

In Ohtani’s last outing, he had two shaky innings where he gave up three earned runs, but was lights out after that. Manager Dave Roberts expects the right-hander to give the Dodgers a strong performance Friday night.

“He’s a unicorn. I don’t know how he manages it. Every minute of the day is accounted for. He’s very prepared,” Roberts said.

“His last outing in Philadelphia was a good one — six innings, I think he gave up three runs. So I expect him to be good tomorrow, be focused and put forth a good effort at the bat, too.”
