Dodgers Place Teoscar Hernandez on Injured List With Groin Strain, Call Up James Outman

In Monday’s game, Hernández collected two hits and an RBI before exiting in the fourth inning with what the team called hamstring tightness.

After the contest, manager Dave Roberts said that his injury was “a little concerning,” but added that the 2024 Home Run Derby champion would undergo more testing on Tuesday.

Roberts said Tuesday that it is a Grade-1 adductor strain for Hernández with no timeline to return. The skipper added that Hernandez would be “inactive for a while”.

Now that the move is official, Outman will be the outfield replacement and hope to take his recent Triple-A success back to the big leagues.

Outman hasn’t been back to The Show since last September, after he followed up a promising rookie campaign with abysmal numbers across the 2024 season.

The rookie version of the outfielder hit .248 with 23 home runs and 70 RBIs, but the sophomore struggles included a .147 batting average with 55 strikeouts in 53 appearances in 2024.

His Triple-A prowess this season includes a slashline of .254/.322/.508 with a .830 OPS. He was recently named the Pacific Coastal League Player of the Week for the Oklahoma City Comets to round out a dominant April.

He earned the honor thanks to a .462 batting average, 12 hits, and a pair of dingers during six-straight games against the Salt Lake Bees.

As for Hernández, he heads to the IL in the midst of a strong season, batting .315 with a .933 OPS. He’s tied with Shohei Ohtani to lead the Dodgers with nine home runs, and leads the league with 34 RBIs so far in 2025.

  1. Dave Roberts sucks as a field manager when it comes to producing runs when runners are in scoring position with less than 2 outs. When will he have his his alleged HOF batters bunt a ball to score a runner from 3rd base with less than 2 outs. Good example with today against the Marlins. Muncy on 3rd base with less than 2 outs and best time to bunt with Mookie pinch hitting. Or in the 10th with no outs and runners on second and first. Very bad managing. Just sits on his ass and spits out his sunflower seeds.
    Very poor!!
