Dodgers: Players Don’t Even Think This Team Has Reached Full Potential Yet

The Dodgers are on a crazy hot streak right now. They just won their 10th consecutive game on Wednesday night, and their last couple of weeks have provided plenty of games to add to the win column. It’s no wonder that the Padres can’t seem to gain any ground on them.

Over this streak, the Dodgers are scoring more than 7 runs per game and batting over .300 as a team. But for most of the year, it was the top of the lineup that carried things. The combination of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Trea Turner, and Will Smith was their key to success.

But things have really changed lately. All around the batting order, the Dodgers are getting production. Guys who were struggling big time at the start of the year are suddenly putting the pieces together, and it’s infectious. One of those guys is Max Muncy, and he doesn’t think the team is even close to its full potential yet.

“Scary enough, I think there’s still a lot more in there for the whole team. It’s been looking really good lately. We’ve been looking good all year long. Yet at the same time, not all of us have gotten going all at once. Hopefully we save that for the playoffs. But right now, we’re just taking it one day at a time. We’re playing the game today.”

That’s a terrifying thought for opposing teams with the way the Dodgers have been playing. They go into Friday night against the Royals with a league-best 77-33 record, good for 16 games up on the Padres in the West. And they could be getting better with guys coming off of the IL.

“This is an unbelievably talented group of guys, and the way everybody goes about their business is very special. Everybody cares. Everyone wants to win, and I don’t think we’re ever out of any game. I don’t see a lot of outs in that lineup. It’s a lot of hard guys to get out, a lot of guys that can do damage.” -Joey Gallo

Things are firing on all cylinders out in Los Angeles, and the Dodgers have put the league on notice.
