Dodgers: Rams’ QB Matthew Stafford Watches Old Friend Clayton Kershaw Take the Mound
Dodgers fans definitely remember the headlines that dominated the news cycles for about a week this past March. The Los Angeles Rams traded for Matthew Stafford and what followed was nonstop chatter about the connection to Clayton Kershaw.
By now, you’re probably more than aware that Kershaw and Stafford grew up friends playing sports together in Texas. Now that both guys are starring out in Los Angeles, it’s made for a pretty cool story. And the Dodgers got to see Kershaw return to the mound on Monday evening.
Old friend Matthew Stafford was there to take in that game, donning his buddy’s jersey to celebrate his return. The Dodgers pitcher would go on to toss 4.1 innings and take home the win, just like the Rams did on Sunday night. Kersh spoke after the game about having his old friend there to watch.
I was excited to watch him yesterday, he played awesome. I know he’s excited to be there. For him to come out and show his support the day after is really cool. We’ve known each other for a long time and we played a lot of sports together growing up, it’s always fun to have someone to cheer for in another sport, and Matthew is that guy for me. Now that we’re both in LA, it’s full circle and it’s pretty cool.
The Dodgers offense came to life and put up some runs early to give Kershaw run support. That made the decision to pull him in the 5th a little easier on Dave Roberts. He got charged with 1 run and punched out 5 batters.

In Stafford’s first game with the Rams, he also locked down the win over the Chicago Bears. So not a bad couple of days to be a Los Angeles sports fan, especially if you care about the Dodgers and the Rams.
