Dodgers Remain ‘Quite Interested’ in Giants Relief Arms

The Dodgers remain ‘quite interested’ in multiple Giants relievers, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

MLB Trade Rumors touches on the Dodgers’ reported interest in those relievers.

Schulman’s report comes on the heels of an earlier report from Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports, stating that the Dodgers had been linked to Will Smith, Sam Dyson, Tony Watson, and Reyes Moronta.

Smith, a free agent at the end of the season, is one of the main prizes of the deadline with his 2.44 ERA and 38.9 K% from the left side.

Dyson, former closer for the Texas Rangers, has regained some of the ability he showed early on in his career, posting a 2.57 ERA and 24.9 K%.

Watson, a former Dodger deadline acquisition, has not enjoyed much success this year and is actually getting crushed by lefties this year, surrendering an .840 OPS across 10 innings against left-handed hitters. The Dodgers would be smart to avoid him unless he is basically free on the market.

Moronta, arguably one of the best up-and-coming young arms in the game, will most likely not get moved (especially to the Dodgers) because of his controllability. Moronta has a 2.47 ERA and a 31.5 K%.

Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.

  1. Zaidi knows the Dodger’s farm system well and even admitted he would like to weaken their system in for future years or something like that. The Giant’s Will Smith is a FA so I cannot imagine Dodgers would pay too much for just another 2 month rental.

  2. Hey Daniel. It would be really cool to see some names that you would lineup in trades from the Dodgers to their partners, just to get an idea of who you’re referring to. It gives us some context. Thanks!

  3. If the Giants play well for just one more week I don’t think they’re selling. They’ve got one of the best bullpens and a team that’s found chemistry as well as Bruce Bochy who knows how to manage a pitching staff and isn’t a puppet. If they can get past the WC they could beat anyone in the NL including us and our sorry pen

      1. No they just have to get a WC spot which they’re only 2 back from. Anyone can get a WC right now

  4. Dodgers looking like a top WS team, I would love nothing more than to see them get there & lose again!!!! Go Giants!!!!

    1. lol that’s how pathetic your situation is. You have no skin in the game you have to hope someone else does the job for you

    2. I understand your ill-will…. I guess vying for that Wild Card spot to try and get into the play offs would be incredibly unpredictable and stressful. So, thank you for unselfishly believing that the Dodgers will, in fact, get to the World Series, regardless of outcome. Moreover, I am glad that you were able to alleviate some of that understandable frustration by trolling Dodgersnation.
