Scott underwent an abscess incision on Wednesday night in his lower body, per Roberts. He is now ineligible to be on the NLCS roster, if LA advances.

“As I understand it, it was an abscess (incision), some type of lower-body minor procedure,” Roberts said. “He’s recovering well and it took place last night.”

Roberts called it an “urgent matter” and said there were signs on the evening of the workout on Tuesday.

While Scott is ineligible to be added to the team for the NLCS, Roberts left the door open for him being back in a potential World Series.

“I wouldn’t close that door,” Roberts said. “I still feel that the World Series — if we’re fortunate enough to get there, earn our way there — then he’ll be available.”

Scott signed a four-year, $72 million deal this offseason to join the defending champions. He struggled mightily in his first year in LA, sporting a 4.74 ERA with a league-high 10 blown saves.

As for Wrobleski, he had a 4.32 ERA across 24 appearances for LA this season. He finished the regular season with three consecutive scoreless outings, pitching 3.2 shutout innings.

    1. Whatever they did, they should have done it yesterday because they knew about this yesterday. Either one could have ate those innings easily and saved Kershaw for another day.

    2. Casparius definitely has a better track record against Philly this season, but I think replacing a lefty with a lefty is the right move.
