Dodgers Reportedly Among 3 ‘Frontrunners’ For Teoscar Hernandez
The Dodgers’ spending spree this offseason has irritated much of the league, with the team committing over $1 billion to three players. However, even with that extraordinary amount, it seems that the Dodgers may not be finished spending quite yet.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand is reporting that the Dodgers are among a group of three frontrunners to land free-agent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. Alongside them are the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox for the former All-Star’s services.
“As for Hernández, the Angels, Dodgers and Red Sox appear to be the frontrunners for the two-time Silver Slugger winner. Some have speculated that Hernández will wait for Bellinger to sign before inking his own deal, but the three aforementioned teams don’t appear to be in the Bellinger mix, which could open the door for one of them to make an aggressive move for Hernández.”
Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com
The Dodgers have been linked with Hernandez all winter, and they are looking to potentially make another splash here. He would give them a solid, power-hitting bat in the middle of the lineup, who could play left field every day.
L.A. has been looking for another right-handed hitting outfielder, and Hernandez fits the bill nicely. Last season for the Seattle Mariners, Hernandez hit .258 with 26 home runs and 93 runs batted in.
Hernandez would also bring some defensive ability to the table, even if he isn’t overly elite in the field.
The biggest obstacle to signing Hernandez may be the price. He has earned a multi-year contract, and the Dodgers may not be willing to pay what it will take to land him.
Having his bat alongside Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman would make life very tough on opposing pitchers. He would help make Dodger Stadium even more electric than it already will be this coming season.

The Dodgers should trade Max Muncy and Chris Taylor to the Angels for Mike Trout. Muncy would DH and Taylor can play anywhere needed. The salaries would offset each other for the 2 years Muncy and Taylor are signed for. The Dodgers would be on the hook for Trout’s contract for the remaining 5 years. The Angels need a DH and relief from Trout’s contract. The Dodgers could play Miguel Vargas or Michael Bush at 3rd base where Muncy isn’t that great anyway. Win win for both teams.
The Dodgers would have to trade a lot more than that for Trout who is probably not available anyway. They would need to supply the Angels with 3-4 young players who are knocking at the door.
The Angels would have a hard time getting any team to take on Trout’s contract with no other players involved.
Do you honestly think the Angels would trade Trout for those 2 players?
No but send Mike to the phillies and you get what they want !!

What’s happening with David Peralta? He’s a fine fielder – not an all-star, but solid and not a hole in the lineup.
