Dodgers Reveal Tyler Glasnow’s Injury During Sunday’s Start

During Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers, starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow was lifted from the contest during the bottom of the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.

The Dodgers have now revealed Glasnow left the game with lower leg cramps.

The injury couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time for the Dodgers. Blake Snell is currently on the IL with shoulder inflammation. Clayton Kershaw and Tony Gonsolin are still not yet ready to return to the Major League roster. Bobby Miller, Landon Knack, and Justin Wrobleski have all struggled in spot starts for the club.

Glasnow said after the game that he started feeling cramping in both legs during the third inning, and he was struggling to push off the mound.

He added that he feels fine now, and is hopeful he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start for the Dodgers.

  1. Of it was just cramping, they should have done the old trick of shifting him to a most inconspicuous position (second base?) after giving him some electrolytic fluids, bring in a reliever, to get out of the inning and then put him back on the mound as the pitcher after he had had a chance to recover in between innings. Since he wouldn’t have been removed from the game, he could return to any position on the field, thus proceeding with his performance. I don’t believe this specifically banned by MLB and I do know of a few cases in college ball where this has happened and on one case the pitcher got the win and the save… Of cpurse, if the Dodgers didn’t know it was just cramping then they may not have wanted to try this maneuver, if legal in MLB.

  2. As an ex-pro baseball player, guys like Tyler Glasnow are disruptive to a team. So far, over 2 years, this guy is about himself. There’s history on him over the years, yet the Dodgers gave him $135 million for 5 years. We will not start calling him derogatory names, but if it’s not his arm, the rain, cramps, or something else, he has shown Dodgers fans that he is not a tough hombre, and you cannot count on him over the course of a season. Team mates are busting their asses to play everyday, and yes injuries are a factor that can derail players, especially pitchers, but this guy is an injury or something else that’s waiting to happen. Sorry fans, but it’s either an injury, or the weather, or the humidity, or his spikes, or cramps, or whatever the FK is bothering this head case, drama queen. Maybe he’s having bad hair days or giving us an indication of what he might think he is, like Bruce Jenner. But you can’t continue with this overly sensitive person, who’s getting paid to rack up innings so LA doesn’t have to over use their pen every time he gets on the bump. That could burn out other Dodger arms, and cause other problems, all a result of Tyler baby’s unreliability. Also, IF he does not turn it around from the mental aspect side, it could be a major distraction tp the team as a whole. Maybe psychological help is needed, but as of now, we need reliable. tough-ass pitchers we can count on, and Tyler ‘made of GLASS’ is not one of them!

    1. Yet they let Walker Buehler walk for nothing. He’s finally healthy after his second TJ and was willing to take a QO. Today’s stat line:
      7.0 IP
      4 hits
      1 ER
      9 Ks
      3 BBs
      100 pitches/63 strikes

But instead we added Snell (who is great when healthy) to an already compromised rotation with guys like Glasnow (who is often really good when he’s healthy/able to pitch). Sigh….

      1. Yeah, I really miss that Bulldog attitude especially when he struck out Luis Robert Jr. twice and made him look bad
Glas needs to cut his hair and be more “a he man”
