Dodgers Roster News: Mookie Betts and David Price Both Activated

The Dodgers and Padres will face off one more time in this series this afternoon in Los Angeles. After taking the first 3 games of the series, Los Angeles will send out Clayton Kershaw to take on young southpaw MacKenzie Gore to try to sweep.

But before that could happen, the Dodgers had to make a few moves. One of them was activating Mookie Betts, who is back in the lineup and playing in rightfield again. Betts sustained a cracked rib back in the middle of June after a collision with Cody Bellinger.

The other move was activating David Price. The Dodgers reliever was placed on the emergency list after a personal issue came up. He has been away from the team since Thursday after the league granted him the leave. He will be back in the bullpen this afternoon.

In order to make room on the active roster, Eddy Alvarez was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Alvarez played in 14 games with the Dodgers and picked up 4 hits while driving in 3 runs. In addition to that, they designated Ian Gibaut for assignment. They had just picked him up off of waivers this week.

But getting Price and Betts back is huge, especially for the final game of this series. Taking down the Padres in a 4-game series would be a huge boost for this team as they play a long stretch of games.
