Dodgers Roster: Taxi Squad For This Road Trip Includes Keibert Ruiz
The Dodgers head out to Milwaukee for their first game of a long road trip on Thursday night. After the Brewers, they head to Chicago to play the Cubs before 3 games and then back to Southern California to play the Angels. All told, it will be a 10-game road trip.
And like every other road trip this year, the Dodgers will be carrying a few guys on the taxi squad. Mitch White, Edwin Uceta, Alex Vesia, and Keibert Ruiz will all be part of that trip. All of them will be available should a need arise.
For White, he was placed on the COVID list after receiving a vaccination this week. He is expected to be ready to go. The Dodgers are also bringing 2 more pitchers along with them to help support their relievers. Los Angeles is expected to throw a bullpen game on Friday.

Dodgers fans are obviously familiar with Ruiz and many have been hoping he would be called up. The rookie catcher has flat-out hit at every level, though his experience is very limited without a minor league season in 2020.
The Dodgers getting arms to keep them safe is the biggest thing here. Roberts suggested that there could be more vaccinations in the coming days, so having 3 guys as options out in the bullpen could be huge down the stretch of this road trip.

If we weren’t already carrying two catchers, or if Ruiz could play anywhere else, he would already be on the big team during this latest offensive drought. If he comes up, and hits, I would consider him at 1B, moving Muncy to 2B. Not as a permanent move, but a temporary measure to shake things up.
