Dodgers Rotation Set for Series vs Brewers in Milwaukee, Updates and More

Coming off an incredible 5-2 down to their last out, come from behind win over the Padres, the Dodgers took a happy flight to Wisconsin to face the Milwaukee Brewers for the next three days. The Dodgers enter the day at 21-14, 1.5 games ahead of the second place Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West. LA is three games off from having the best record in the National League (Braves are 24-11).

To get primed for the series against the brew crew, here’s a look at this week’s projected matchups.

  • Monday: RHP Tony Gonsolin (0-0, 3.38 ERA) vs RHP Freddy Peralta (3-2, 3.63 ERA)
  • Tuesday: RHP Noah Syndergaard (1-3, 6.32 ERA) vs LHP Eric Lauer (3-3, 4.40 ERA)
  • Wednesday: RHP Clayton Kershaw (5-2, 2.53 ERA) vs LHP Wade Miley (3-1, 2.31)

The Dodgers will face two left-handed starting pitchers in the series, which is less than ideal for a team that has struggled against southpaws this season. LA is hitting .191 with a .661 OPS vs lefties this year.

Thankfully in this series, Kershaw isn’t expected to be a meme.

Other Dodgers News and Updates

  • All-Star DH JD Martinez will now not be back during this series. Instead, the club will send him to take at-bats against pitchers in Arizona. If everything goes as expected, he should be back in the lineup by the time the Dodgers come back home to LA on Friday.
  • After getting the Dodgers up off the mat in the 9th inning on Sunday night, Mookie Betts received big praise from his manager. “He’s the best player on the field,” Roberts said of Betts. “He’s always got to believe that, and the great thing about this game is the players win the game. Today, [Betts] had an opportunity and he clutched up for us.”
  • Following a rough first outing back down at Triple-A, reliever Alex Vesia was electric in his second appearance for Oklahoma City. The left-hander recorded 3 strikeouts and his fastball was sitting 94-96 mph.
