Dodgers: Royals Scoreboard Operator Trolls Hanser Alberto’s Pitching

With Saturday night’s game well in hand thanks to an offensive explosion, Roberts turned to an unlikely hero to pitch the ninth innings with a 13-3 lead.

Hanser Alberto entered as first baseman in the sixth inning but was moved to the mound for the final inning of the game. This was his fourth pitching appearance this season and the most he’s pitched in his major leagues career.

In the one inning he pitched on Saturday night, the multi-faceted 29-year old allowed one hit and gave up a walk. He also clocked an interesting stat on the scoreboard in Kauffman Stadium. Alberto and Will Smith made a joking matter of the situation.

Although it wasn’t pretty, it got the job done. Alberto held the Royals to a scoreless inning securing the Dodgers a 13-3 win and helping the team extend their winning streak to 12 games.

Other Dodgers News

Dave Roberts had Heaney on the mound for Saturday night’s game. However, the southpaw barely made it out of the third inning alive after taking a 106 MPH line drive off of his pitching arm.

Across his 7 starts and 31 innings pitched, the lefty owns a 12.19 K/9 and he was on track for another impressive outing before the injury. The 31 year old pitcher’s line read 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 Ks, 60 pitches, 30 CSW% with a season ERA of 1.16 after finishing the third inning.

Fortunately, Heaney’s injury looks to be minor as nothing worsened over the remainder of the game and he should look to make a return to the mound soon.
