Andrew Friedman didn’t reveal much regarding his plan for the front office during his introductory press conference as Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations, but the picture is slowly coming into focus.

The Dodgers are expected to hire Oakland Athletics assistant general manager, Farhan Zaidi, as their next GM. This would mark the second time the Dodgers have plucked an executive from the A’s and handed him the keys to the franchise longing for a World Series win.

Zaidi’s hire will fill a necessary role for the Dodgers, but the team still has multiple vacancies to address. According to ESPN LA’s Mark Saxon, Josh Byrnes may be next in line to join the Dodgers front office:

According to sources, former San Diego Padres general manager Josh Byrnes will also be part of the mix, likely as a scouting director.

Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times also reports Byrnes will join the Dodgers but in a different capacity:

Josh Byrnes, the former general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, will be a senior executive.

Byrnes has been tied to the Dodgers since mid-October and was spotted at an Arizona Fall League game with Dodgers president and CEO, Stan Kasten. If Saxon’s source is correct, Byrnes would replace Logan White, who recently left the Dodgers for a position with the Padres.

According to Saxon, the merry-go-round between the Dodgers and Padres with executives may also include Billy Gasparino and Jeff Pickler:

The Dodgers have also been linked to San Diego executive Billy Gasparino and, according to sources, they have had talks with one of San Diego’s most prominent scouts, Jeff Pickler, a close associate of Byrnes’, for a front office position.

Gasparino completed his second season as Padres’ scouting director after having spent the previous five as a national crosschecker for the Toronto Blue Jays and Padres. Pickler worked with Byrnes in San Diego before joining the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as a Minor League defensive coordinator in 2011.

With the GM meetings scheduled to begin next week in Phoenix, the Dodgers are expected to finalize their front office hirings by the end of this week.
