Dodgers Rumors: Radio Personality Thinks Shohei Ohtani to LA is Happening Next Year

As free agents slowly come off the board, there still remains one move that would completely rock the MLB landscape. The Dodgers have been conservative with their money despite entering the winter having trimmed over $100 million from the payroll. Baseball pundits have shared their thoughts on LA’s frugal approach this offseason. And, in the eyes of some, the signs are pointing towards a Shohei Ohtani trade.

Ohtani is currently in the final year of his contract and it is destined that he will make one of the highest contracts in MLB history. The Angels have been one of the more active teams in free agency almost signaling the team is in win-now mode.

As the Angels continue to spend, Ohtani remains poised to play out the final year of his contract before testing the free agent market. The Dodgers may look to avoid this altogether and make a huge trade deadline move like with Mookie Betts to bypass all other teams and sign him right away.

An unprecedented move to say the least and a move Angels fans may not be inclined to see. Yet radio personality Chirs “Mad Dog” Russo believes Ohtani will end up in a Dodgers uniform (via High Heat).

“I do think Ohtani at the end of the day next year will be a Dodger, I really do believe that.”

Russo is not alone with the rumors with many having linked Ohtani to the Dodgers during the off-season. If the Dodgers want to be the first in on Ohtani they will have to send a king’s ransom for a chance before he hits the free agent market.

This a move the Dodgers may not want to risk after waiting so long to pay any players.
