Dodgers Rumors: The 5 Biggest Questions LA Has to Answer this Offseason

The Dodgers’ 2023 season ended much sooner than anyone could have imagined, and now they are entering into the offseason with more questions than answers. But this front office has been thinking about the offseason for a while now, so hopefully that should help things go smoother.

They have some decisions to make this winter to make sure that they don’t allow another early playoff exit to happen in 2024. There has been enough disappointment around this team, and they are too talented to let this keep happening.

Lucky for you, our very own Doug McKain broke down some of the biggest questions that the Dodgers are facing this offseason. You can see the entire video right here!

Within his video, he breaks down a handful of questions:

Should the Dodgers make a run at Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani? What does the future hold for veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw? Is it finally time for a new voice at the manager position? Which players’ club options will the team pick up? How do they plan to address the starting pitcher? And more!

Many didn’t expect the Dodgers to win 100 games this season, but they defied expectations once again. They overcame obstacle after obstacle until they crumbled under the October pressure once again.

It will be a very interesting offseason for this Dodgers team, and one that they can’t get wrong. They had a lackluster winter last year in preparation for this offseason. Now it’s time to cash in on that preparation, and really push the chips in for 2024.

  1. 1. Yes on Ohtani with a structured contract that pays him as a DH in 2024, then add a performance clause(s) based on innings, performance, etc.
    2. Bring Kershaw back for a Farewell Tour so that the fans in LA and the rest of MLB will get to pay their respects to a once-in-a-generation pitcher. And, get 3,000 K’s assuring first-ballot HOF.
    3. Right a 24-year wrong: bring back Mike Scioscia and FIRE Dave Roberts!
    4. NONE. Time to pay our core while they are in their prime, not because of what they accomplished during their prime. And, get younger.
    5. Blake Snell. Weaken a divisional rival while adding to the youth of Buehler, Miller, Sheehan, Pepiot, and eventually May and Gonsolin. Stone needs more time refining at AAA. Bring up Big Hurt as closer, Graterol as set-up, Ferguson and Grove as long relief, then Phillips, Brasier, Almonte, Miller, Vesia, and Yarborough in the pen.

  2. Keep Freedman and Betts, replace the rest of the infield for younger more promising players that can hit a line drive, please dump Muncy for sure for a consistent hitter who can bend far enough to fetch a line drive and recognize the ability of his opponent. Trade Muncy, CT 3 and a couple of less productive relief pitchers and finally get a Manager who can recognize when his pitcher should be removed, one that will utilize all of his high paid talent and not worry about hurting their feelings.

  3. Yamamoto. Get younger by giving Michael Busch and Miguel Vargas real opportunities in the infield. Heyward to left field. Kyle Hurt. No more older relievers who get hurt and don’t contribute. Tyler Glasnow for 1 year? Prepare for Juan Soto in free agency after 2024 season.
