Dodgers Rumors: Trade for Star Outfielder Likely Not in the Cards this Offseason

Despite the quiet offseason so far from the Dodgers, they really don’t have that many more needs. They do need to add an outfielder, as right now they’re relying on Trayce Thompson and/or James Outman on a full-time basis. They also could still look to add some more infield depth, especially at the shortstop position behind Gavin Lux. But technically, if they went into next season with the team as is, they would probably be fine.

However, that doesn’t mean they won’t make another move, and one that’s been talked about a lot is a trade for Pirates All-Star OF Bryan Reynolds. Reynolds would be a perfect fit in LA for many reasons, but he isn’t going to be cheap. The Pirates are reportedly asking for a pretty hefty return, which is why MLB’s Juan Toribio doesn’t see a move coming to fruition for LA.

  1. They could be in the running for the last wildcard if a couple of the kids come through and starters stay healthy.

  2. I’m ok with what they have. The return of the pitching staff will be the key to the season. They may not win 111 but neither will any other team.

  3. I say give the Pirates James Outman and another minor leaguer for Bryant, that sounds fair.

  4. The Dodgers should go with what they have, stay under the luxury tax this season, go with Trevor Bauer (who you’re paying anyway) and just get on with it. The games are won on the field.

  5. I think they should trade for Reynolds, even with the Giants not bringing in Correa and not making progress. I don’t want to see the Dodgers scuffling for a wildcard and then feeling burnt out before the playoffs start like in 2021. Funny how my position on Bauer has “evolved.” Six months ago, I wanted the Dodgers to cut him loose. Now, if they have keep paying him, I want them to see if he has anything left in the tank before releasing him. We no longer have the luxury of paying someone $30 million to play elsewhere.

  6. Not happening if they didn’t want to spend on Judge they won’t spend on this guy. Dodgers will still challenge for the division cause they have a better rotation than padres or giants. As long as they score 4 runs per game they will win most of their games and I’m counting that dodgers make Thor better than last year. No worries for division title only

  7. Dodgers rotation had era well under 3 we lost Tyler but Thor will help a lot so even if May’s era is 3:50 as long as Dodgers score 4+ runs per game we’ll be competing. Cause Julio Kershaw and Gonso will keep their era under 3 with Julio if roberts gives him more innings will have another great year.

  8. Outman and will be fine and Lux will have his best year. We just need for Roberts and Friedman to forget their dum moves and let Taylor play everyday in center he’s the best we gave right now so take off that dum label utility player cause he’s great in center and second. Just look back in 2018 nlcs vs Brewers when he runs down that long fly all that would have won the game for Brewers.dodgers don’t have anybody that can make those catches .And Taylor will be hitting close to his 2017 days. Knowing you’re playing everyday takes a lot of pressure of you than knowing you must produce or hit the bench. This stat the analytical nerds won’t see it only great managers like Lasorda Sparky Anderson and so on. Dodgers tried this dum analytical stuff for 7 years no luck time for a change
